What is Pawtato Land?
Pawtato Land is a blockchain-powered online strategy MMORPG that blends onchain mechanics (Web3) with traditional game design (Web2) — a "Web2.5" game that runs entirely in your browser at pawtato.gg. It is built on the Sui blockchain and powered by the TATO token.
Players own Land Plots, Estates, Provinces and Heroes — a fixed Land collection of 15,000 minted NFTs, reduced by the one-time Merge event to 5,704 Plots, 776 Estates and 688 Provinces — gather resources, craft tools, equipment and consumables, and take part in World Quests, Dungeons, the PvP Arena and large-scale Tribal Conflicts. Combat is turn-based strategy: Heroes fight enemies across the World Map, earn experience, level up, learn skills and challenge Morito, the first Boss of the game.
The core gameplay loop
1. Produce. Staked Land NFTs passively generate the 8 base resources — Wood, Stone, Water, Coal, Iron, Gold, Crystal and Mushroom — at rates set by each Land's traits.
2. Craft. Resources are processed into materials and crafted into Tools (which boost production), Equipment (which arms your Heroes) and Consumables. Every craft rolls a random rarity from Common up to Mythic and a Quality from 1–100 — see the Crafting documentation.
3. Adventure. Heroes quest, patrol, fish, take on Assignments, clear Dungeons and battle enemies in turn-based combat — read more under Adventure & PvP.
4. Trade. The in-game Marketplace (Bazaar) and Orderbook Exchange let you trade Lands, Heroes, Equipment and any other item against TATO — see Marketplace & Exchange. Land and Hero NFTs are also tradable on TradePort on Sui.
What makes it Web2.5?
The heavy onchain parts are optional and opt-in: you can log in and play in the browser like any classic browser game, buy items on the in-game Marketplace without a wallet, and only connect a Sui wallet when you want to stake NFTs or withdraw assets. Resources you claim are credited to your in-game balance and exist as native tokens on Sui, withdrawable to your wallet whenever you choose.
